There once was a beautiful Goddess names Aphrodite who lived in the heavens of Olympus. She was the Goddess of 'Love and Fertility'. She loved a mortal man called Adonis and would travel from the heavens to be with him every night.
Her past lover Ares, 'God of War', could not see past his jealousy or rage and in doing so sought revenge. He waited for Adonis to go into the forest and transformed himself into a wild boar. He attacked.
Aphrodite could hear the cries of Adonis and flew from the heavens as quickly as she could to be with him, cutting herself on thorns from the rose bushes as she rushed to help him.
She held Adonis and wept as he lay dying in her arms. As their blood ran onto the ground poppies started to bloom and the white quartz below the surface level turned pink, forever holding within it the strength of their love for each other.
Moved by their love, Zeus brought back Adonis every night for Aphrodite to visit. This love story made Rose Quartz the central symbol of reconciliation and undying love amongst the Ancient Greeks.
